Zombie PandemicPosted by Thomas Wed, January 13, 2010 20:50:10As the game is “maturing” we have decided to launch a dedicated community platform where blog, wiki, forum and a help and faq section is combined at one site using one single user account.
It’s the very first version so bare over with it.
We are going to add more features as we go along including a gallery with credits of the player submitted art and a help/game manuel section but have started out with the basics.
Don’t worry. This blog, the old forum and wiki is not going anywhere (or well at least for now) and you are still very much welcome to use this forum, but going forward we will use the community site to be the primary forum and source of all news and info for ZP.
The new community site is available at:

Zombie PandemicPosted by Thomas Fri, December 18, 2009 18:11:48We are moving to a dedicated server on Saturday meaning the game will be unavailable for a couple of hours. As for now we expect it to be around 12-15.00 GMT+1 but this could be subject to change.
Zombie PandemicPosted by Thomas Mon, November 23, 2009 22:07:39Here is a quick update to planned new features.
Scavenging:We are working on an item spawning/scavenging system. It has already been discussed at the forum but the basic idea is that we feel that scavenging should be part of game play. Currently there are an infinite number of say cash registers in a shop but to counter "harvesting" you can't sell them making a profit. Similarly you can't find really cool items like guns lying around for free. We are going to change that by an item spawning system where you have to search for new items which show up on location and will include unique items. So meat cleaver and chef hat will still show up among other things at the restaurant and the scissors and hairspray at the hair dresser etc. There might just also be a baseball under the counter or even a magnum 44 in the drawer.
"Zombie AI aggression tuning":We have already implemented this but are still working on tuning it. Please report errors or strange occurrences if you experience them.
Zombies standing outside a barricaded building will attack and destroy barricades gradually. When destroyed zombies will start entering the buildings and attack barricades to other sub locations.
Zombies will also attack players standing on the same location. If a player is idle for more than 30 min. - a zombie attack "lines up" meaning you will have to resolve the fight when you comeback. Of course you can always try to escape with the risks of not being able to.
Stamina/fatigue:
Avoiding the risk of running out of AP in the middle of nowhere (going offline only to be chewed up by zombies) or in the middle of combat we have allowed negative AP. When you go into negative AP your skills decrease and your are ineffective in most quest steps and combat but obviously there should be some other restrictions too. We are working on that but comments are welcome as always.
Spaypainting:Depending on the outcome of the current pool we will implement the ability to spraypaint buildings with messages. We are keeping an eye out for the thread on ideas as how to counter spam and how to leverage useful info. We would like spraypainting to communicate hints on where to find the shops, safehouses and other player to player hints. More info will follow...
Bug fixing:
There are some know bugs with the attack button, quest step success not always showing up, training which is buggy etc. We will fix these asap.
Newsletter and admin stuff:Not really too interesting for you guys but are going to implement some more admin options making it easier to support players and the ability to subscribe to server update notifications as well as newsletters. Though we have offered sign up to newsletters for quite a while we are still not distributing any.
Game Events:We are going to implement a "game event" system. The idea is very similar to a lot of board games and the object is to make some small gameplay variations similar to say monopoly but with a choice.
Every say 10-20th turn the system generates a random event where you have to make a simple choice with a risk/reward.
F.x. you are walking from location A to location B. A random event occurs:
1) "You hear a strange sound coming from the dumpster parked on the street" (investigate -> you guessed it a profitable zombie encounter/ keep on walking)
2) "The remains of a chicken sandwich is lying on the street. It appears to be ok" (eat it +-1 HP / keep walking)
etc.
Server upgrade:
We are going to upgrade the server shortly due to increasing traffic. The server upgrade will also mean that we are going to move the wiki and blog to wiki.zombiepandemic.com and blog.zombiepandemic.com and maybe establishment of a gamers forum (this is the beta testers forum). More info will follow.
Safehouses and clans:We will facilitate clans and we will enable players to build there own safehouses by occupying suitable abandoned buildings. Besides being safe from zombie attacks the safehouses are going to offer a few extra options with focus on co-op gameplay. The brainstorm is list is growing quite huge from submitted ideas and the forum so we will get back to you with an update.
